What is Acupuncture? |
|
|
Acupuncture is
one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures
in the world. The practice originated in China
centuries ago and spread worldwide. In the U.S. it
became better known in 1971.
Acupuncture theorizes
that there are patterns of energy flow called Qi
(pronounced "chee") through the body that are essential
to health. Imbalances in the pattern of flow
result in disease. To treat the imbalances,
sterile hair-thin needles are painlessly placed in the
skin and left there for several minutes to an hour.
This procedure ins known to beneficial in the treatment
of a variety of health conditions. |
|
How does Acupuncture work? |
|
|
According to
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), there are more than
two thousand acupuncture points on the human body.
These points connect twelve main and eight secondary
pathways called meridians. Meridians
conduct energy or Qi throughout the body.
When acupuncture needles are place din points along the
pathways, the body's electromagnetic signals, which are
already present and in communication between nerve
cells, are relayed at a greater rate than under normal
conditions. Neurotransmitters and neurohormones
(e.g. endorphins) are released which effect changes in
brain chemistry, sensations and body function. The
resulting chemical changes can reduce pain and fever,
induce sleep, activate the immune system and regulate
body systems. In this way, imbalances in energy
flow are corrected.
Western scientific research has demonstrated the
effects of acupuncture, but has yet to explain its
curative effects. |

What is the Acusound? |
|
|
Acusound is
the use of pure sound above 20Hz on acupuncture points
to achieve healing. The sound waves are delivered
primarily by precision calibrated tuning forks which are
used because of their purity of tone. Pure tones
rarely occur in nature, so the body takes note.
Tuning forks can be used alone, or together with other
Oriental Medicine techniques such as Acupuncture and
Chinese Bodywork (Tui Na). |
|
How does Acusound work? |
|
|
Acusound, know
also as Acutone, Sonopuncture and Harmonic Medicine, is
a form of Tone Therapy. It is not Music Therapy.
The tones resonate through the body's water and bone
rather than the ear canal, so that the technique can be
used even on the deaf. The use of harmonic sound for
healing is not new. Centuries, ago, the seer
Pythagoras, a twenty-two year student of the ancient
Egyptians, used specially designed flutes, while the
ancient Chinese employed two-toned bells. Tuning
forks were used after their invention in 18th century
Europe.
Tone Therapy balances and harmonizes acupuncture
pathways and invigorates the body's energy. When
struck on an acuvator, the forks resonate, vibrate and
emit a tone. As they resonate, they are applied to
the body's acupuncture points. The tone travels
deep through the body along energy pathways. The
entire body is permeated including tissues, muscles and
inner organs. Deep inner balance, relaxation and
well-being are achieved which provide a wonderful relief
of stress. At higher frequencies, it is a
beneficial deep tissue massage. |
